Going Once is an online auction platform for estate and consignment property. Households get cleared, the contents get catalogued lot by lot, and everything sells to the highest bidder over a few days of timed online bidding. Buyers collect in person, locally.
The company
Going Once is operated by Going Once LLC, a California limited liability company formed in August 2026 and based in Napa. We run the auction: the catalogue, the bidding, the close, the invoices, and the sales tax we collect and pay over to the state.
We do not own the things we sell. The property in every sale belongs to the seller running it (an estate, a family clearing a house, or the liquidator working for them), and it stays at their location until a buyer collects it. That is why every lot sells as-is, and why the descriptions come from the people who can actually see the item.
How a sale works
Nothing is bought back: neither we nor the seller bids on a lot. Lots close one after another on a stagger rather than all at once, and a bid in a lot’s final minutes extends it, so a last-second bid never wins on timing alone.
Winning bidders pay the hammer price plus a buyer’s premium and California sales tax, itemised separately on the invoice, and collect in person during the posted window.
